The Freightliner Cascadia has been engineered to tackle the challenges truckers face everyday. But many truck owners and drivers don’t completely understand the mighty Cascadia’s capabilities and benefits. Typically, truck brands would create a walkaround video: a stuffy salesperson walking around the truck talking about the different features. These videos are notoriously dull, so AKKOMPLICE took the opportunity to turn the format on its head and make content that was genuinely entertaining, yet still informative.
To gain traction with a tough-to-influence audience for a product that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars, AKKOMPLICE created – Truckin' Around. A six-part Top Gear-style branded content series, fronted by NOVA radio host and stand-up comedian Nick Cody, and ex-Olympic Hockeyroo and Channel 7 presenter, Georgie Parker. The team hit the road in the Cascadia to prove the truck’s worth.
The long-form content was broadcast on YouTube. The 20 minute video was then cut down into shorter, snackable episodes and teasers for Facebook and Instagram to optimise reach and engagement. Display, paid social and QR-trackable industry press ads directed the audience to view the full series via a bespoke webpage with pointed calls-to-action, encouraging dealer enquiry.
